Individual Debriefs
Individual debriefs provide private opportunities for youth to reflect on behavior, effort, or learning with an adult. These conversations focus on understanding rather than punishment and encourage youth to think about choices and outcomes. Adults ask questions that guide self-reflection, such as what went well and what could be done differently next time. Individual debriefs allow for personalized support and reduce embarrassment that can occur in group settings. They also strengthen relationships by showing care and attention. When youth feel heard, they are more open to guidance. Over time, this practice builds responsibility and self-regulation. Individual debriefs help youth connect actions with consequences in a supportive way. This approach reinforces growth by turning everyday moments into opportunities for learning and improvement.
