Reflection is a powerful learning tool. When youth take time to think about what they have experienced, they deepen their understanding and recognize how they are growing.

After completing an activity or project, adults can guide youth through a short reflection. Questions such as “What did you learn?” or “What was the most challenging part?” encourage youth to think about the process as well as the outcome.

Reflection also helps youth recognize the skills they used—problem solving, teamwork, persistence, or creativity. When youth become aware of these skills, they begin to see themselves as capable learners.

Regular reflection strengthens critical thinking and helps youth apply lessons from one experience to another.

Child Champions understand that the learning does not end when an activity is finished. Reflection helps transform experiences into meaningful knowledge and personal growth.
