Youth Voice in Reflection

Youth voice in reflection means creating space for young people to share their ideas, feelings, and insights about their experiences. Instead of adults summarizing the lesson, youth are invited to describe what they learned and why it matters. This practice builds confidence and reinforces that their perspectives are valued. Youth voice also increases engagement because participants feel ownership of the learning process. Adults support this by listening actively, asking follow-up questions, and acknowledging contributions. When youth hear peers express ideas, they gain new understanding and feel less alone in their thinking. Over time, reflection becomes a shared conversation rather than a one-way message. Youth voice strengthens communication skills and deepens comprehension. It also builds a sense of community where learning is shaped by everyone involved.
