June 28 – Helping Youth Feel Valued
I Am Enough!.
Every young person wants to feel that their presence matters. When youth feel valued, they become more confident and engaged in learning.
Programs can help youth feel valued by recognizing their efforts and contributions. Simple gestures such as listening carefully, acknowledging ideas, and celebrating achievements show youth that they are important members of the group.
Adults can also support this by inviting youth to participate in discussions and decision-making. When youth see that their ideas influence activities, they feel respected.
Providing opportunities for youth to share talents or lead activities also helps reinforce their sense of value.
When young people feel valued, they develop confidence and a stronger connection to their program community.
