June 23 – Being Curious

Curiosity Is Essential.

Curiosity is one of the most important drivers of learning. When youth are curious, they naturally explore ideas, ask questions, and seek new information.

Programs can nurture curiosity by creating environments where exploration is encouraged. Activities that allow youth to experiment, build, investigate, and discover help spark interest and engagement.

Adults support curiosity by responding positively to questions and encouraging youth to investigate ideas further. Asking follow-up questions such as “What do you think will happen?” or “How could we test that idea?” helps deepen learning.

Providing a variety of experiences also supports curiosity. When youth encounter new topics, materials, and challenges, they discover interests that inspire them.

When curiosity is encouraged, learning becomes exciting and meaningful. Youth begin to see the world as a place full of questions and possibilities.
